1. How do I get the API keys?

The API keys are generated by linking a service to an identity. Follow the steps below to create the API credentials:

  1. Sign in to your account.
  2. Click on Generate an API Credential from the API Credentials tile.
  3. Select the Identity for which you want to create the API keys.
  4. Select an active Service to link the Identity, and click on Continue.
  5. Add a friendly name (all lowercase letters and numbers only, without spaces) and click on Continue.
  6. The API Keys and Credentials are generated.
  7. Download and save the data as it cannot be retrieved from the portal once you leave the page.

 

2. What are the API keys used for?

API Keys are used for logging into the DSS APIs. You will receive an API Key & Secret, which is used for DSS API login, so that you can use the DSS APIs.

 

3. What happens to the API credentials when the linked service subscription has expired?

You will be unable to sign as the subscription has expired.

You will still be able to use your API credentials however you will need to renew your DSS subscription to use the service.

 

4. When a service subscription is renewed, will the API credentials be automatically renewed?

Your API credentials will remain the same, however you will need to renew your DSS subscription to use the service.

 

5. How do I access the API keys from the API Credential?

(Note that, you can't access this once the API has been completed.
The only information you can access are the following: 1. Revoke the Credential or 2. Change the Service.)

You may download the API keys after creating the API credentials by following the below guide on creation:

  1. Navigate to the API credential sub menu.
  2. Click generate an API credential.
  3. Select a valid Identity.
  4. Provide a familiar name if you have one.
  5. View success screen where you can download key and secret as a .csv and copy secret to clipboard.

 

6. Can I rename my API Credential?

No, once a Credential has been created, the name cannot be changed.

 

7. Can I change the associated Service and Identity for my existing API Credential?

  1. Click on the 3 dots in the top right corner of the desired API Credential.
  2. Click on View/Change Associations on the interaction menu next to the desired API credential card.
  3. Click on the button CHANGE THIS SERVICE.

 

8. Why do I need API Credentials?

API Keys are used for logging into the DSS APIs. You will receive an API Key & Secret, which is used for DSS API login. So that you can use the DSS APIs.
