Certificate Signing Request Fields - SSL Certificates

Fields Allowed in an SSL Certificate Signing Request

The following fields are allowed in an SSL Certificate Signing Request (CSR):

  • Common Name
  • Country Name
  • Organization
  • Organizational Unit Name
  • State or Province Name
  • Locality Name
  • Email Address

Whether these fields are mandatory or optional depends on the server or platform you are creating the CSR on. For all CSRs it is highly recommended to provide all of the information for faster processing.

Note: Do not use blank fields in your Certificate Signing Request (CSR). If you do not wish a field to be included in your certificate, do not create this field in your CSR, (e.g., "Locality Name = " will result in our system refusing your request).
